Moonbug is in its era of “Big Feelings” as it launches “fully integrated music company”

Over a career spanning more than 30 years, Snoop Dogg has collaborated with an eclectic range of artists. He’s dropped guest verses for everyone from 2pac to Katy Perry to Psy to Nicepeter and EpicLLOYD.

Now, Snoop has teamed up with another unexpected collaborator: Blippi. The kid-friendly character clad in a signature blue-and-orange outfit has joined forces with the hip-hop icon to deliver the “Ice Cream Truck Song.”

“Ice Cream Truck Song” unites Blippi’s partners at Moonbug with Snoop’s team at his family channel Doggyland. The partnership doubles as an introduction for Moonbug’s newest unit: A recording industry play called Big Feelings Music.

According to a press release from Moonbug, Big Feelings is a “fully integrated music company” that will focus on family-oriented tunes. Moonbug partners will be able to use Big Feelings’ services to professionalize their musical output.

Big Feelings is one part label and one part creator network. On behalf of partners, the new company will handle tasks like publishing administration, video distribution, rights management, marketing, and audience development. Creative collaborations with Moonbug brands like Blippi and CoComelon will open up additional opportunities for clients.

Moonbug’s is claiming that Big Feelings will fill a gap in the children’s music space. Music videos for kids, like the CoComelon rendition of “Wheels on the Bus,” regularly rank among the most-watched uploads on YouTube. Despite that high level of interest, the relevant professional services are still catching up with other corners of the music industry.

“We’ve seen firsthand the challenges artists, creators, and studios can face in turning dedicated audiences into sustainable businesses,” said Jon Benoy, Moonbug’s Managing Director of Platforms and Music, in a statement. “We’ve spent years building the distribution, music publishing, video, and platform infrastructure behind franchises like CoComelon and Blippi. With Big Feelings Music, we’re opening it up to others so they can focus on creating exceptional music while we help them reach families at scale.”

Early clients like Doggyland are natural partners for Big Feelings, but the company should have no trouble finding relevant artists on the kid-friendly side of YouTube. Many creators who start their careers as kid-friendly vloggers eventually transition into the world of pop music. (Like Nastya and Jojo Siwa are two notable examples.)

Those creators have trouble reaching big crowds on platforms like YouTube, but are they getting the support they need to widen the reach of their tunes? Big Feelings is hoping that its answer to that question is as sweet as your favorite flavor of ice cream.
