TikTok’s Creativity Program pays creators of long-form content. It’s expanding outside of the U.S.

TikTok‘s monetization solution for long-form content is coming to countries other than the U.S. The video app’s Creativity Program is now available for creators in Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom.

The Creativity Program is intended to serve as a replacement for the Creator Fund TikTok established in 2020. That monetization effort supported some short-form stars, but its fixed payout pool made it a flawed solution for a rapidly growing platform.

To offer “higher revenue potential” for its community, TikTok introduced the Creativity Program, which delivers payouts to creators who publish videos that are at least one minute long. Watch time is a key factor that determines how much creators are able to make from the Program.

Some of the countries that are getting looped into the Creativity Program have served as testing grounds for other TikTok products. Brazil was one of the first regions to receive access to TikTok Music, an audio-oriented service that has yet to make its U.S. debut

. TikTok started pushing ecommerce in the United Kingdom as it looked to expand its lucrative TikTok Shop hub to the West.

In this case, however, the U.S. was the testing ground, with other countries receiving later rollout dates. Some U.S. creators were admitted to a Creativity Program beta in February, and the monetization option was enabled for all U.S. users later in 2023.

As the Creativity Program expands, its benchmarks for entry remain relatively unchanged. To qualify, creators must be at least 18 years old and have at least 10,000 followers and at least 100,000 views over the past 30 days.
