FailArmy launches competition format ’50 vs. 50′ hosted by gamer Mari Takahashi

FailArmy, the brand known for distributing slapstick user-generated content to millions of subscribers, is teaming up with a veteran of the YouTube gaming scene. Mari Takahashi is the host of 50 vs. 50, a gamified fail competition that will be distributed across FailArmy’s free ad-supported television (FAST) channels.

A press release describes 50 vs. 50 as a head-to-head battle between “fail” videos. “Viewers can expect to see the best video collections going head-to-head filled with jokes, mayhem, and jaw-dropping moments,” reads the release. In a trailer for the show, Takahashi uses the phrase “50 states, 50 fails,” suggesting that 50 vs. 50 will cross the United States in search of the nation’s most ridiculous user-generated bloopers.

50 vs. 50 is the latest addition to FailArmy’s FAST hub, which can be found on platforms like Pluto TV, Freevee, and The Roku Channel. Jukin Media, the one-time parent company of FailArmy, revealed its plan to turn fails into originals

just weeks before it was itself acquired by Reader’s Digest owner Trusted Media Brands.

Under the TMB umbrella, FailArmy has continued to mix its vast UGC library with original IP. The first FailArmy scripted series was announced at the start of 2023, and 50 vs. 50 will offer its a blend of comedy and competition. Takahashi, a one-time professional ballet dancer known for her affiliation with online video outfit Smosh, will attempt to strike that balance as the 50 vs. 50 host.

If you don’t have access to any FAST services, you can check out 50 vs. 50 by heading over to the FailArmy website. New episodes will arrive on Saturdays at 9 PM ET.
