Creators like MatPat, Vsauce, and ZHC are making sure their fans are Good To Vote

2022 is a pivotal election year, so it’s the perfect time to bring back a voter registration campaign powered by creators and celebrities. YouTube stars like MatPatVSauceCourteezyZHC, and Anthony Padilla are participating in the latest edition of Good To Vote, which has added more than 110,000 U.S. citizens to the voter rolls.

Good To Vote was born in 2020 out of a partnership between non-partisan org HeadCount and Ben Relles, who recently left his position on YouTube’s original content team. The campaign launched to counter the downturn in voter registration that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 edition of Good to Vote featured many of the same influencers who participated in the latest edition of the campaign. Thanks to contributions from Vsauce, Remi Cruz, and others, Good To Vote completed more than 100,000 registrations in 2020.

In 2022, Good to Vote has delivered another six-digit sum of signups. The initiative awards prizes to Americans who confirm their voter registration. ZHC fans, for example, can enter to win a custom MacBook designed by the creator himself. MatPat’s Good to Vote drive gave citizens a chance to win a hangout

with the cultural commentator. According to Relles, that individual effort led to more than 7,000 registrations on its own.

Other creators who joined Good to Vote in 2022 include Michelle KhareThe Try Guys, and the members of Smosh. Traditional celebrities, such as KehlaniBillie Eilish, and Harry Styles, have also participated. Relles told Tubefilter that Styles’ Good to Vote entry “is the most successful music artist campaign we’ve ever had.”

Relles sees a connection between voter registration campaigns and actual poll numbers. And since midterm elections typically have lower turnout than presidential years, the latest Good to Vote campaign has a chance to make a significant impact. “We were able to look at the data in 2020 and the clear majority of people who registered also voted, with a similar percentage as other registered voters,” Relles said. “And very often we are reaching low propensity voters and first-time voters.”

Americans who don’t know how to vote can also find helpful information related to that topic on the HeadCount website.
