Welcome to YouTube Millionaires, where we profile channels that have recently crossed the one million subscriber mark. There are channels crossing this threshold every week, and each creator has a story to tell about YouTube success. Read previous installments here.
This installment of YouTube Millionaires is brought to you by creator fintech company Karat Financial.
Alyssa has lived ten years of her life on camera–and she’s not keen to hit “Stop Record” anytime soon.
She’s one of seven kids in a YouTuber family led by parents Matt and Kristine. Together they, Alyssa, and her siblings David (13), Zac (12), Chris (12), Michael (8), Owen (4), and newborn Chloe have been making videos for their YouTube channel Family Fun Pack since way back in October 2011. In total, the family has uploaded more than 2,000 clips, has nearly 10 million subscribers, and brings around 40 million views per month.
But this feature isn’t about the family’s channel. It’s about Alyssa’s.
Alyssa and her parents set up her solo channel, Always Alyssa, in 2016. Folks coming to her channel from Family Fun Pack will find a similar vibe: her content is also bright, kid-friendly, and often follows her doing challenges and craft and kitchen DIYs, and offers peeks into everyday adventures like visiting Great Wolf Lodge with her best friend (embedded below).
She also has videos that are uniquely hers, like a skit series with her self-made characters Ms. Johnson (the mean grade school teacher everyone has at least once and never wants to have again) and fan videos of her favorite TV series Survivor.
Alyssa chose to launch her own channel so when she becomes an adult, she’ll already have her own platform and audience if she decides to continue doing YouTube. Whether she continues or not, though, she doesn’t plan to go off camera–one of her dreams is to end up on the Survivor island or in the Big Brother house.
Check out our chat with her below.
Alyssa: It feels amazing to have reached such a big milestone on my channel! I’m so thankful for everyone who has subscribed, because if it weren’t for my fans, I would’ve never reached it. Thank you so much to my amazing subscribers!! I also want to say thank you to the followers for keeping the comment section so positive. I love the comments people leave.
Alyssa: I’m 15 years old and from Southern California. I really enjoy painting, drawing, playing piano and guitar, playing soccer, and cooking. My favorite TV show is Survivor! I also love Big Brother, and I want to be on the show.
Alyssa: It’s really unique to be part of a family who does YouTube for a living. I love how we have a big family and get to spend lots of time together! We get stopped a lot in public by fans and I love saying hi to them.
Alyssa: I decided to start my own separate channel so I can make videos personalized to me and what I think my fans will like watching. My parents wanted me to have my own channel so that when I become an adult, I will have my own platform already set up so that I can continue on social media if I want to. I love having my own channel where I can post content I enjoy filming, such as art tutorials, cooking, vlogs, crafting, and skits.
Alyssa: Usually when I wake up, depending on what day it is, I’ll either have guitar lessons, basketball class, or singing lessons. I film my YouTube videos in the middle of the day, when the lighting is the best. I paint and draw mainly at nighttime, because we are usually very busy during the day. Since I’m homeschooled, I can be pretty flexible with my schedule and when I do my homework. I have schoolbooks for each subject and I work on my school in the evening after music lessons.
Alyssa: My favorite YouTube videos to film are definitely Ms. Johnson skits (a parody where I pose as the worst teacher) and art tutorials. I love drawing and painting so it’s a lot of fun when I get to make videos about those!
Alyssa: I love being able to film my daily life and all of our fun experiences, so I can post them on YouTube for people to watch and enjoy.
Alyssa: Just recently, my baby sister was born!! I’ve wanted a sister for my whole life, and now I finally have one.❤️ She’s super tiny and adorable!
Alyssa: I think I’ll definitely keep documenting my life as I get older. I plan on doing similar things to what I do now, like art projects and vlogging. As far as another job or career, I’ve always wanted to sell my art or teach an art class. That would also be pretty cool. Maybe I can even be on Survivor or Big Brother one day!!
