StreamElements To Give 15 Marginalized Creators Up To $5,000 And A Year’s Worth Of Mentorship

StreamElements, which produces engagement and monetization tools for content creators across YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and Trovo, has opened applications for its second annual Creator Diversity Program.

“The Creator Diversity Program was inspired by the adversity many marginalized groups face in the games and livestreaming industry such as harassment and limited access to guidance, gear, and support,” Kacie Harold, StreamElements’ newly hired Creator Diversity Program manager, said in a statement.

The program is intended to help BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, and women creators further their content creator careers by providing them with professional livestreaming “services, equipment, support, and mentorship,” StreamElements says.

Fifteen applicants will be accepted for the year-long program, which will give them: monthly workshops and educational sessions; a “dedicated StreamElements Creator Success manager”; access to a group Discord server; $1,500 in Amazon gift cards to buy equipment; up to $2,500 to put toward custom channel graphics like emotes and alerts; up to $1,000 for professional services like video editing and headshots; and webcams and microphones from gamer tech brand Razer.

StreamElements–which recently raised $100 million in fresh funding and earlier this week acquired gaming-centric YouTube MCN Paragon –debuted the Creator Diversity Program in 2020. Alums from the first class include CtrlAltQuin, who has 6.6K followers on Twitch

, SpringSims, who has 31.2K subscribers on YouTube and 23.7K followers on Twitch, and Tiffany Witcher, who has 7.4K followers on Twitch.

“A major impact of the program was being exposed to professionals within the industry who I could speak to for advice and learning about how to reach out to the brands I wanted to work with,” SpringSims said in a statement.

In their own statement, CtrlAltQuin added, “As a black, trans creator it has been very hard to find organizations that truly understand and want to uplift marginalized voices. StreamElements did that and more. They listened to our feedback and continue to support diversity in the content creation space so I am extremely proud to be a part of the inaugural group.”

To be considered for the program, a creator must be a member of a marginalized group, have at least 1,000 followers on either Twitch, YouTube, or Facebook Gaming, be streaming at least twice a week and/or upload two videos per week, and be at least 18 years old.

Applications can be submitted here, and are open until Oct. 22. Creators selected for the program will be notified by Nov. 10. The program begins Nov. 30, and will run through October 2022.
