TikTok Testing Q&A Tool, Enabling Creators To More Seamlessly Respond To Viewer Inquiries

TikTok is testing a new Q&A feature that will enable creators to more easily access fan inquiries, and then respond in either text or video format.

The test is currently only accessible to select public creator accounts with more than 10,0000 followers who have opted in, Techcrunch reports, and questions can be submitted via standard TikToks as well as live streams. Initial participants include members of TikTok’s Creative Learning Fund, which was announced last year.

Techcrunch notes that many TikTok creators were already engaging in Q&As of sorts, with a popular format on the app seeing creators embedding photos of comments and responding to them in standalone TikTok videos. That ‘reply to comments with video’ feature spawned the Q&A test, which enables viewers to submit questions directly through a Q&A link on a creator’s profile page, or to designate that their comments are questions by tapping a button in the comment field. Accordingly, creators can now view all of their questions in one place.

Techcrunch notes that there is no limit to the number of questions a creator can receive, and no obligation to answer any of them. TikTok told the outlet that Q&As are currently being tested globally, with a broader rollout slated for coming weeks.
