FaZe Clan Seeking To Sign Newest Member In Upcoming Quibi Competition Series

FaZe Clan, the leading esports organization, is giving aspiring gamers a chance to become one of its own.

On FaZe Up (the show’s working title), would-be esports pros will be invited to submit videos showing off their skills, Variety reports. Then, Quibi subscribers will vote on six finalists, who will travel to Los Angeles to compete in a series of both digital and real-life challenges. The FaZe Clan will choose the ultimate winner, who will receive a cash prize in addition to a place on the team.

FaZe Up is being produced for Quibi by digital production studio Whistle. It will be directed by William Silva Reddington and Harrison Nalévansky will serve as showrunner. EPs include: the FaZe Clan, Nathan Gaines, Dennis Lisberger, Mike Basone, Charles Segars, and Nalévansky.

“The FaZe Up show represents our next chapter in content creation with our first premium production effort and in collaboration with innovative partners like Whistle and Quibi,” FaZe Clan’s head of content, Oluwafemi Okusanya, said in a statement.

Quibi launched on April 6 and will tout two subscription options — $5 with ads and $8 without. The service will comprise premium series — and no licensed content — broken up into episodes totaling 10 minutes or less. For its part, 10-year-old FaZe Clan comprises 85 gaming creators and six competitive esports teams. In addition to digital natives, the company also reps several traditional stars and athletes with respect to their gaming ventures, including NBA star Ben Simmons, the NFL’s Juju Smith-Schuster, and rappers Offset and Lil Yachty.
