FaZe Clan has signed its first all-female pro esports team.
Valorant team Jennifer Le (aka refinnej), Emma Choe (emy), Vannessa Emely Emory (panini), Madison Mann (maddiesuun), and Diane Tran (di^) will make their debut under the FaZe Clan banner during the 2023 season of the Valorant Champions Tour‘s Game Changers Series.
The Game Changers Series was introduced in 2022 and is meant to “[create] new opportunities and exposure for women and other marginalized genders within VALORANT esports,” per a press release.
FaZe has been present in the competitive Valorant circuit–with an all-male team–since 2020.
“It’s been a long time coming but we’re stoked to officially announce bringing on our first all female esports pro team for VALORANT,” Erik Anderson, FaZe Clan’s Head of Esports, said in a statement. “Signing this group of talented women is just the beginning of bringing female gamers to the forefront at FaZe and I can’t wait to watch them play as a team.”
All five of the new team members are experienced esports pros.
Refinnej, panini, and maddiesuun played together for Complexity‘s female Valorant team GX3; and refinnej, emy, and di^ played competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) for Count Logic Gaming. They previously competed as a complete team—with the nickname “Hamboigas“–during Valorant‘s Game Changers Series III: North America.
Signing these women brings FaZe Clan up to a total of 14 professional esports teams across games including CS:GO, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Call of Duty, FIFA Online, and more.
