YouTube’s FaZe Clan Inks Sponsorship, Content Pact With Automaker Nissan

Automaker Nissan wants a piece of the FaZe Clan — an esports team and YouTuber collective that comprises some of the platform’s most combustible personalities, including Turner ‘FaZe Tfue’ Tenney (9.9 million subscribers), Brian ‘FaZe Rug’ Awadis (11.7 million subscribers), and Ricky ‘FaZe Banks’ Banks (4.8 million subscribers).

As part of a multi-faceted sponsorship deal between the two entities, a Nissan logo will now appear on all FaZe Clan competition jerseys. At the same time, Nissan has inked another sponsorship deal with rival esports organization OpTic Gaming. Additionally, players on both teams will have access to Nissan vehicles to integrate into their social and digital content. The financial terms weren’t disclosed for either deal.

“We are thrilled to have an innovative automotive company like Nissan as a sponsor and brand partner,” FaZe Clan CEO Lee Trink said in a statement. While FaZe competes in Call of Duty, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, FIFA, Fortnite, Battle Royale, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and Tom Clancy‘s Rainbow Six Siege, OpTic competes in the same titles — as well as Gears Of War, League of Legends, and Overwatch.

The Esports Observer notes that other car companies including BMW (with Cloud9) and Honda (and Team Liquid) have been pouring into the esports industry in 2019. Nissan also previously collaborated with Team Curse’s League Of Legends team back in 2013 for a video campaign, according to the outlet.
