YouTube Channels Fine Bros Entertainment, Draw With Jazza Contribute Top April Fools Day Hijinks

Owing to the fact that it fell on Easter Sunday for the first time since 1956, April Fools Day seemed to receive less attention than usual this year, if only because the people who use the tradition as a weekday distraction were instead at home with their families. Nonetheless, a few digital media companies and YouTube channels took some time to put together prankish videos, several of which ended up on YouTube’s trending tab.

YouTube’s owner, Google, was particularly active on April Fools Day, and for one of its practical jokes, it teamed up with Australian YouTuber Draw With Jazza. The artist and designer posted a clip in which he purported to rework the Google logo, changing the iconic tech company’s name to “Googz” in the process.

Other YouTube channels launched their own pranks independent of Google. Fine Bros Entertainment pulled a fast one on a few of its React cast members by making them react to, well, nothing at all.

Several more tech companies hatched impish plots on their own on April 1. Netflix gained a considerable amount of attention by pretending to make a Faustian bargain with actor Seth Rogen, who the streaming service described as a “world-renowned Canadian person, prolific marijuana-doer, and winner of the 2015 MTV Movie Award for “Best Kiss.”

These were just a few of the laughs that notable people and companies produced on April Fools Day. I don’t think any of these pranks will end up becoming pop culture phenomena, as was the case with Pokemon Go, but I may commit to calling Google “Googz” for at least a week.
