Description: Does gay marriage present the same challenges as straight marriage? According to two guys named Michael, yes and no. Michael Rachlis and Michael Feldman are the titular Michaels of Michael and Michael Are Gay, a web series that is currently seeking funding.

The two Michaels of the show’s title are married to one another, and their union presents interesting challenges. Applying for health insurance, for example, is complicated, and as they explain in their pitch video, many people who encounter them on the street think they are brothers.

Michael and Michael Are Gay will mine these awkward moments, and many others, for comedy. The result, the Michaels hope, will be a series that is distinctly queer while also drawing from the treasure trove of married couple comedies that have been produced so far.

Creator Bio: Michael and Michael are active in the Los Angeles comedy scene. Back in 2014, Rachlis’ proposal to Feldman went viral.

Best Perk: For $25, Rachlis and Feldman will digitally insert you into one of their photos, which you can then post to social media. Consider it a Michael sandwich.

Why You Should Fund It: As Rachlis and Feldman explain in their pitch video, married men are expected to live up to certain stereotypes related to adulthood and maturity. As they hope to show, those stereotypes aren’t always true. The Michaels are looking to paint a portrait of a relationship that is real, messy, real messy, and, of course, funny.
