DoSomething.org Names Jerome Jarre, Markiplier, Lilly Singh Most Charitable Creators

DoSomething.org, a digital platform that has empowered 5.5 million young people to take offline action to transform their communities, is taking a look back at the most charitable content creators of 2017.

The just-compiled list is part of DoSomething.org’s 10th annual Celebs Gone Good ranking, which recognizes traditional celebrities who have best harnessed their star power to enact change. Winners are selected by fan vote on Facebook and Twitter, rankings on the Internet Movie Database, and an advisory committee — though winners in the so-called Top Content Creators category were chosen by their fans.

All told, former Vine star Jerome Jarre took home top honors for launching the #LoveArmy movement in 2017. An influencer collective initially formed to combat a famine in Somalia, the concept has subsequently been used by Juanpa Zurita to rebuild Mexico in the wake of an earthquake and by Casey Neistat to raise money for those impacted by the deadliest mass shooting

in U.S. history. Jarre is followed on the list by gaming creator Mark ‘Markiplier’ Fischbach, who has consistently used his platform to raise a reported $3 million for various charities to date.

Third is Lilly Singh, who was the first digital star to be named a Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF, and whose #GirlLove campaign encourages women to be kind to one another. Singh is followed by Anna Akana, an advocate for the Crisis Text Line, and Jenn Im, whose new Eggie fashion range seeks to break boundaries by offering genderfluid pieces. DoSomething.org also placed Musical.ly star Jacob Sartorious at the top of a separate Celebs To Watch In 2018 list for creating a GoFundMe campaign alongside the Stomp Out Bullying foundation, which raised roughly $4,000.
