Vlogger Trisha Paytas To Compete In U.K. Reality Hit ‘Celebrity Big Brother’

YouTuber Trisha Paytas is the latest creator to tread the path from daily vlogger to reality TV star.

The 29-year-old vlogger, who counts roughly 4 million subscribers and more than 1 billion lifetime views across her two channels, has been cast in the 16-year-old U.K. reality smash Celebrity Big Brother. The show, a spin-off of the international Big Brother reality competition series, will follow Paytas and 14 other celebrity contestants living in a house together isolated from the outside world, in which one houseguest is eliminated each week via a collective vote.

Other castmates this season include spiritual medium Derek Acorah and the actor Shaun Williamson. However, Paytas is the first YouTube star to be cast in the show in its 20 total seasons, according to her announcement video:

Paytas launched her YouTube career all the way back in 2006, and today posts an eclectic mix of music videos, eating shows, ‘storytime‘ clips, and more. She’s also no stranger to the small screen, per We The Unicorns, having appeared in several reality shows stateside, including My Strange Addiction, Dr. Phil, and The Price Is Right. Paytas has landed bit parts in Modern Family as well as music videos for Amy Winehouse and Eminem. To date, she has released seven EPs of original music — the latest of which is titled Chicken Fingers And Lipo.

Paytas isn’t the only digital creator to have been tapped for reality stardom in the U.K. Earlier this year, British vloggers Marcus Butler, Alfie Deyes, and Joe Sugg appeared in an episode of the hit reality series Release The Hounds.
