Snapchat Adds ‘Infinity’ Timer On Messages, ‘Magic Eraser’ Tool, And Emoji Paintbrush

Snapchat has unveiled several new editing tools today, including a so-called Magic Eraser, by which users can rub away unwanted items from an image and replace them with patterns that match the image’s background. It’s likely that a Magic Eraser functionality could soon arrive for video Snaps as well, reports The Los Angeles Times.

At the same time, Snapchat, which previously limited photo and video messages to a maximum 10 seconds, is “adding a new setting to the timer: infinity,” the company wrote on its blog. Photo Snaps can now last for an infinite amount of time onscreen — and 10-second videos can repeat in an infinite loop — until a user closes out of the Snap, whereupon it will disappear forever (as usual).

Another new tool, per the Times, is a custom brush that enable users to draw on Snaps with a stream of emojis. And Snapchat is relocating all of its editing tools to the right side of the screen so that it can host more new features in the future.

Snapchat’s parent company, Snap Inc., will release its quarterly earnings for the first time this evening since going public in a soaring IPO in March. Many eyes will be peeled to see whether Facebook and Instagram, which have relentlessly pilfered core Snapchat features, have stunted the Venice, Calif.-headquartered company’s growth.
