Louis C.K.’s Web Series ‘Horace And Pete’ Arrives On Hulu With Little Fanfare

When Louis C.K. released the first episode of his web series Horace and Pete back in February, he did so with no bells or whistles attached. Rather than embarking on an elaborate promotional tour to support his self-funded project, he simply posted the first episode on his website, attached a $5 price tag to it, and let it spread organically through word-of-mouth promotion.

Now, Horace and Pete has landed at Hulu, and the show’s arrival on its first subscription video on-demand (SVOD) service occurred with just as much fanfare (or lack thereof) as its a-la-carte launch. There was no press release and no promotional tour, but all ten episodes of Horace and Pete’s first season are now available to Hulu subscribers.

Horace and Pete stars C.K. and Steve Buscemi as the co-owners of an old-school bar. Along the way, many of the comedian’s famous friends — including Alan Alda, Aidy Bryant, Jessica Lange,

and Steven Wright — show up in smaller roles. Despite its initially serving as a financial bomb (a status it has since shed, according to C.K.), Horace and Pete received acclaim from reviewers. On Metacritic, the show currently holds a respectable rating of 78% positive.

By bringing the show to Hulu, C.K. has made it available for viewers who may have missed it the first time around or may not have been able to afford the $31 price tag attached to the complete first season on the comedian’s website. Now, anyone who has a Hulu subscription (which costs at least $7.99 per month) can check the show out.

According to Variety, Hulu’s deal for Horace and Pete is a multi-year agreement.
