YouTube Red has acquired distribution rights for the teen comedy Alexander IRL, starring Vine and YouTube influencer Brent Rivera, as well as Nathan Kress of iCarly fame. The feature film will debut on YouTube’s subscription service on Dec. 14, according to Variety.
Alexander IRL is about two brothers who have nothing in common but must work together to throw a legendary party when their parents leave town. Fellow YouTube star Brennen Taylor will also appear in the film, alongside Vine phenom Jason Nash, the actor-musician Simon Rex, and Ryan Pinkston of Punk’d. K. Asher Levin directed the film, while he and Rivera produced Alexander IRL alongside Rob Fishman — the co-founder of Niche — a Twitter-owned firm that pairs brands with social influencers. (Fishman departed Niche earlier this month, Fortune reports).

Alexander IRL marks the feature debut for Rivera, who counts roughly 22 million followers across Vine, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
“We are thrilled that YouTube Red Originals shares our vision of bringing back the teen films that our generation grew up on,” Levin, who also directed Cougars Inc., told Variety. “Alexander IRL is filled with emerging talent, relatable characters, and a pop sensibility that truly speaks to today’s teenagers.” Rounding out the cast are: Marcus Scribner (Black-ish), and Ryan Newman (Zeke And Luther), Sarah Gilman (I Didn’t Do It), Bo Mitchell (Eastbound And Down), and Mikaela Hoover (Guardians Of The Galaxy).
YouTube Red, which is reported to have had 1.5 million subscribers as of late summer, is currently offering first-time users a four-month free trial.
