YouTube Premium had a busy June, releasing creator-driven original programs like Liza On Demand, season three of Escape The Night, F2: Finding Football, and The Sidemen Show. Despite that wave of activity, the $11.99-per-month subscription service doesn’t appear to slowing down anytime soon. Trailers have arrived for two more of its upcoming series: One is a documentary about the history of the hip-hop subculture known as “G-funk,” while the other is a relationship comedy titled Sideswiped.
G Funk, as the documentary is called, will explore its titular genre, which had its defining elements laid out in the third verse of Warren G’s “Regulate.” That song, naturally, is featured prominently in the G Funk trailer, which also shows snippets of interviews with Snoop Dogg, The D.O.C., and other members of the g-funk movement.
And now for something completely different, let’s talk about Sideswiped. The comedy, as its title implies, is set in the swipe-left/swipe-right world of Tinder dating, which its 35-year-old protagonist must navigate. Carly Craig will portray that heroine, and she’ll be joined by a strong supporting cast that will include Rosanna Arquette (who will portray her character’s mother) and Jason Sudeikis (as an OB-GYN). Both of those experienced performers can be seen in the Sideswiped trailer:
YouTube Premium subscribers will be able to consume both G Funk and Sideswiped in the coming weeks. The hip-hop documentary is due out on July 11, and the female-driven comedy will follow two weeks later on July 25.
