Here Are YouTube’s Most Popular 4th Of July Music Videos

This weekend, as Americans fire up their barbecues and don their red, white, and blue, they will put on musical playlists that don’t see a lot of action during the rest of the year. Billboard has shared data from YouTube that shows which of the video site’s music videos receive the biggest viewership bump during the 4th of July holiday.

Naturally, the most patriotic songs in YouTube’s catalog see the biggest bump. At the top of the list is Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The U.S.A.,” which gets 32.4 times as many viewers during the relevant holiday as it does on an average day. Both “The Star-Spangled Banner

” and “The National Anthem” earned spots on YouTube’s list, showing the many search terms viewers use in order to find the most American song in existence.

Beyond the overtly patriotic numbers, the rest of the list is a combination of Toby Keith songs, classic rock stalwarts, and relevant pop songs (such as Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.”) While YouTube’s data doesn’t include any demographic information, it’s clear that different types of people prefer different types of 4th of July music. For evidence, you only need to compare the comments between, say, Bruce Springsteen’s “Streets of Philadelphia” and  Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue.”

Bruce Springsteen:

Toby Keith:

No matter what music you prefer to listen to while you eat burgers, drink Budweiser, and watch fireworks display, here’s to a pleasant 4th of July weekend. The full list of popular holiday songs can be found over at Billboard.
