Machinima Hires SVPs Of Marketing And Content Strategy, Co-Productions

Machinima has welcomed two new executives to its team. The self-described “many-2-many” network, centered around fan and gamer cultures, has hired Joseph Epstein as its new Senior Vice President of Marketing, and Joerg Bachmaier as Senior Vice President of Content Strategy and Co-Productions.

Epstein will lead Machinima’s marketing team by providing strategic direction and continuing to develop the network’s re-branding efforts. The new executive will report to Machinima CEO Chad Gutstein. Epstein joins the fan-based network having served in leadership positions at Landmine Spring Advisory Services LLC, 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Digital Broadcasting Group, and Razorfish.

“Joe’s deep digital and social video experience is complemented by a firm understanding of how to market entertainment to Machinima’s millennial audience and how to meet brands’ needs thru [sic] content-based solutions,” said Gutstein in a release.  “That’s what makes Joe such a unique fit for Machinima; we are fortunate to have attracted him to the team.”

Bachmaier’s role as the new Senior Vice President of Content Strategy and Co-Productions will find him acquiring new content, negotiating rights with studios and game developers, and curating Machinima’s 32,000 hours of monthly content into separate feeds for optimized distribution. Bachmaier brings 16 years of entertainment experience to Machinima, with previous roles at BBC Worldwide and Endemol Group. He will report to the network’s Chief Content Officer, Daniel Tibbets.

“Joerg’s unparalleled pedigree of programming, production and distribution is perfectly aligned with our ambition to work with the most dynamic creative producers of original and re-imagined narratives in all genres within gaming, heroes, and comics,” said Tibbets.

Machinima recently announced a slate of upcoming original content at Digital Content Newfronts, including a program based on DC Comics properties. The network claims to reach over 170 million global viewers every month.
