Each month, YouTube details the branded videos that have received the most views with its Ad Leaderboard. April’s top ads featured a distinctly female theme, with four of the top five ads aimed at women and mothers.
While all of the ranked ads were released during April, two of them relate directly to Mother’s Day, which occurs on the second Sunday in May. “The unique connection,” which celebrated the bond between mother and child, generated more than 14 million views for Pandora (the jeweler, not the Internet radio service) and claimed the #2 spot on YouTube’s list. Three places down, Teleflora notched 4.4 million views for a video that reunited a mother with her veteran son.
The top spot of YouTube’s Ad Leaderboard, however, belonged to a Hyundai video that helped a girl send a message to her father in space. In April, that spot generated more than 53 million views, which was more than the rest of the top ten combined.
The final spot on the list belonged to a brand with a big YouTube presence: Purina. The pet food company’s latest collaboration with BuzzFeed surpassed a million views in April.
