PewDiePie, YouTube Stars Square Off In ‘Best Fiends’ Valentine’s Competition

PewDiePie would like your help in beating his girlfriend Marzia Bisognin (known as CutiePieMarzia to the online video masses) at the mobile game Best Fiends. The couple is competing in the “Best Fiends Forever” Valentine’s Day competition along with fellow prominent YouTube personalities CaptainSparklez, Aureylian, TheStrippin, and Dodger (aka Dexbonus).

Best Fiends was created by entertainment startup Seriously and released in October 2014. The smartphone game pits players against evil slugs transformed to their maleficence nature by an unknown force from a meteor which hit Mount Boom in the land of Minutia. The game’s users must play puzzle games (which look a lot like Bejeweled) to level up their characters, obtain new powers, and form teams of “best fiends” to help defeat the slugs once and for all.

In the “Best Fiends Forever” competition, the YouTubers must level up their characters by completing in-game challenges and puzzles. The video creators are paired up to face off against each other in the game; PewDiePie will compete with Marzia, CaptainSparklez against Aureylian, and TheStrippin against Dodger. The contest runs from February 9 to 14, 2015; whoever finishes the week with the most leveled-up character wins. The loser of each pairing will have to take the winner out for dinner on Valentine’s Day.

Fans can participate in the competition by challenging a loved one to level up in Best Fiends. Every time fans level up before their competitors, they can take a screenshot of their standings and upload it to Twitter with the hashtag #BestFiendsForever. In addition, winners can give “support points” to their favorite YouTuber in the “Best Fiends Forever” competition by hashtagging the gamer of their choice (like #teammarzia or #teampewds) by 3 PM EST on February 14.

Best Fiends has been downloaded more than 7 million times, mostly thanks to earlier promotional competitions involving PewDiePie. One such event called “Best Fiends Race Against the Slime” involved the Swedish video personality and other YouTube gamers Markiplier, Kootra, UberHazorNova, and CinnamonToastKen competing to raise money for the charity Malaria No More and one organization of the winner’s choice. The gamers’ videos about the contest generated a collective 4 million views on YouTube within 10 days.

Check out PewDiePie and Marzia’s video below which describes the “Best Fiends Forever” competition in more humorous tones. Then make sure you go nab Best Fiends on your mobile and start leveling up to help your favorite YouTuber get the Valentine’s dinner of their choice.
