VH1 Stages A Laundromat Spectacle To Promote Its New Show

VH1 has once again turned to “viral” marketing to promote an upcoming TV debut. The network has released “Missed Connections,” a video that ties into the imminent premiere of the new show Hindsight.

Hindsight, which debuts on January 7th at 10 PM EST, centers around  a woman’s attempt to travel back to the 90s to change her future. “Missed Connections” utilizes a similar premise by focusing on a woman named Daniela who posted a note on the missed connections section on Craigslist.

Daniela’s nagging regret concerned a guy from the laundromat, with whom she wanted to exchange numbers. In the video, a group of confidants arrange a meeting between Daniela and her flame, which takes the form of an elaborate dance number set at the laundromat.

In a release, VH1 explained how the video is “timed to kick off the New Year, when people reflect on the past and on missed opportunities.” “At VH1 we are always trying to do things differently,” said added Caralene Robinson

, the company’s SVP Marketing & Creative, in the release. “To celebrate our new scripted series Hindsight, we are bringing to life a universal insight about second chances and giving someone a real-life opportunity to do things differently. In Hindsight our lead character Becca is given a chance to go back to the 90s and do it all over again. In “Missed Connections”,  we gave Daniela that second chance as well and we couldn’t be more excited for her.”

VH1 enlisted LA-based creative agency Mistress for the video. Mistress previously teamed with VH1 for “Dancing Naked,” which promoted the network’s Dating Naked program. That video has more than two million views.
