Channing Tatum, Academy Awards Host “Team Oscar” Video Contest

It doesn’t matter if you’re not a big-time movie star or industry celebrity, you still have a chance of getting on stage at the 87th Academy Awards. Channing Tatum has teamed up with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to send six lucky winners of the #TeamOscar video competition to the awards show.

Tatum made the announcement on December 17, 2014, via a video he put on his Facebook page. In the upload, he encourages viewers to enter the contest so they can join him on February 22, 2015, at the Oscars ceremony, broadcast from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. Viewers must create a 60-second video entry about “the best piece of advice I’ve ever received,” upload it to YouTube, and submit it for consideration.

Tatum will reprise his role as a judge for this year’s competition, along with Oscar telecast producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, to select up to six winners. The chosen individuals will be flown to Los Angeles and given the honor of delivering Oscar statuettes on stage to the celebrity presenters.

“We are thrilled to bring the Team Oscar competition back to the show for the third year, and that Channing Tatum will be our spokesperson and one of the judges,” said Zadan and Meron in a statement, as reported by StreamDaily. “We are very happy that the idea we initiated has turned into an annual tradition, and is now open to a wider range of filmmakers who are passionate about film and the moviemaking process.”

The two previous years of the #TeamOscar competition only accepted entries from college students. This year, it’s open to all legal U.S. residents ages 18 to 30. If you’d like to appear on stage at the Academy Awards, make sure you submit your entry to apps.facebook.com/officialteamoscar by January 12, 2015 at 9 PM EST/12 AM EST.
