AwesomenessTV Is Bringing A Revived ‘Richie Rich’ To Netflix

“The poor little rich boy” is coming to the Internet. Richie Rich, the franchise best known for its long-running series of comics, will be revived through a new live action series produced by AwesomenessTV and distributed by Netflix.

The titular character of Richie Rich is a young boy whose massive fortune allows him to live the ultimate life of leisure. In the original comic, Richie is an heir, but here, he is a self-made man who has made a trillion dollars through his work with green technology. The 21-episode series will explore the many adventures he embarks on as a result of his wealth.

The Richie Rich comics first appeared in 1953, and Richie made his TV debut through an animated series that began in 1980 and ran for two seasons. His arrival on the Internet is

the latest example of an 80s cartoon finding a second life online. Netflix is also bringing back Care Bears, and streaming site Feeln will release a new rendition of Rainbow Brite. Netflix will also offered 90s kids a trip down memory lane with an upcoming revival of The Magic School Bus.

The executive producers of Richie Rich‘s Netflix series are Brian Robbins, Tim Pollock and Jeff Hodsden. Robbins, the CEO of AwesomenessTV, has brought a lot of content from AwesomenessTV’s network to TV, particularly through Nickelodeon, for whom Robbins previously created a number of different shows. This is the network’s first deal with Netflix.

No exact release date for Richie Rich has been announced, though it is expected to arrive on Netflix in early 2015.
