Smosh Drops Music Video, Opens Contest For ‘Dumb And Dumber’ Fans

Thanks to its nearly 19 million subscribers, the Smosh YouTube channel is an efficient mouthpiece for brands looking to reach a young audience. Previously, Smosh has partnered with everyone from Assassin’s Creed 3 to Sun Drop, and the channel’s latest branded video promotes Dumb and Dumber To. Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox have released a music video and launched a contest to support the upcoming sequel to The Farrelly Brothers’ 1994 comedy classic.

The music video is called “YOUR DUMB. I’M DUMBER” and it begins with a reenactment of the original Dumb and Dumber film’s most memorable scene. Once Padilla and Hecox complete their Jim Carrey and Lloyd Bridges impressions, they segue to a music video, where they list a bunch of dumb things their respective characters have done.

At the end of the video, a voiceover from Padilla explains that the Dumb and Dumber video is an introduction to a contest leading up to the new film’s premiere. Smosh fans are invited to tweet the hashtag #SmoshDumbTo, and one fan will win a chance to join Padilla and Hecox at the Dumb and Dumber To premiere on November 10th. The rest of their fans will be out of luck, though Padilla still urges them to see the film when it opens on November 17th.

In many ways, the Smosh guys–with their brash humor and their array of funny faces–are the Internet’s answer to Carrey and Bridges, so this partnership seems sort of perfect. The submission period for the “Tweetstakes” ends on October 17th.
