Conan Makes Samsung Spoof Ad After Unbox Therapy’s iPhone 6 Bend Test

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have only been out for a few weeks, but complaints are already coming in about the device bending in people’s front pockets. Unbox Therapy (Lewis Hilsenteger) decided to stress test his iPhone 6 Plus “for the sake of science” in a new video.

On September 23, the tech expert, who has over one million subscribers on YouTube, uploaded a video showing him forcefully bending his iPhone 6 with his bare hands. While Hilsenteger notes how malleable aluminum is and how much of it is on the larger iPhone 6 Plus, he does say he started to notice a bend himself from typical use after only a few days. To date, his video has received over 35 million views.

Springboarding off the success of Unbox Therapy’s video, the witty Conan O’Brien discussed the iPhone6 uproar using a spoof ad “released” by Samsung. In it, Samsung (aka Team Coco) sympathizes with Apple customers, saying there’s nothing worse than a “flaccid phone.” Full of non-stop innuendos, the ad highlights the firm nature of the Samsung Galaxy and encourages users to “squeeze it, bend it, slap it around — it can take it.”

With other internet celebrities already poking fun of its Watch, Apple has some damage control to do, but doesn’t seem to care. According to The Next Web, the tech giant is offering replacement phones, but only to users who are willing to undergo a visual inspection to verify the damage. And other sites note Apple’s insistence that only nine customers have complained about bending and the case is “extremely rare” in normal circumstances.

Even if Apple tries to brush the situation under the rug, we’re sure they’ll fix the bending issue with the iPhone 7.
