Netflix’s ‘Hemlock Grove’ Gets A Third Season And An End Date

The first horror series in Netflix‘s original content library is getting a final season. Hemlock Grove, which chronicles the inhabitants of a town stalked by deadly creatures, has been renewed for a third season, with Netflix stating that this go-around will be Hemlock Grove‘s last.

Hemlock Grove, as with other high-profile Netflix series, is helmed by a big-name creator. Eli Roth, who is known in the horror community for gory films like Hostel and Cabin Fever, used Hemlock Grove to bring his intentionally-campy style to the Internet. The result was initially panned by many critics, but the series managed to pick up a dedicated fan base. This led to a second season, one that failed to improve on the quality.

With season three, Roth and his fellow show-runners have one last chance to deliver fans the grisly thrills they seek. “We are so grateful to the fans of Hemlock Grove

who have championed the series so intensely over two seasons,” said Roth in a press release. “We are looking forward to taking the last and final season into some dark and unexpected places, and to giving viewers the killer finale you’d come to expect from Hemlock Grove.”

While the show hasn’t been explicitly cancelled, it doesn’t seem like a coincidence that Hemlock Grove is both the most negatively received of Netflix’s high-profile originals and the first one of those shows to definitively cease production.

While most critics won’t miss Hemlock Grove, its fans will be sad to see it go. The third season will have ten episodes and will arrive in 2015.
