Description: The Cleanists is an Australian web series about a quartet of lovably flawed characters who team together to form a cleaning service. Late in 2013, creator Tristam Baumber launched the first 10-episode season of The Cleanists, which caught our eye a couple months later. In our Indie Spotlight feature on the series, we noted its similarity to American sitcoms such as The Office as well as the strong characters at its center. Baumber now wants to make a second season of The Cleanists, promising that “the situations are funnier and more original, the characters are more fleshed-out and human.”

Creator Bio: For Baumber, an Australian comedy writer, The Cleanists represents one of his first major projects. It has gained some traction, though, and has even found its way to the UK’s Showcase TV channel. He is also working on a series called Timothy for Australia’s ABC TV.

Best Perk: Anyone who donates A$60 gets invited to special screenings of The Cleanists in Sydney and Newcastle.

Why You Should Fund It: The Cleanists is one of the best new series to come out of Australia, and thanks to its simple format, Baumber and his team should have no trouble thinking up fresh plot lines for the second season. What’s more is that Baumber is appropriately confident. “I found there were so many places to take them in a second season,” he says on the Pozible page. “It’s almost as if Season 1 was our trial run, and with Season 2 we can make the show the way it’s meant to be.”

The campaign also includes a complete breakdown of the budget for season two, ensuring that no penny will go to waste. Ideally, Baumber and his team would like to raise A$20,000, and even that represents a reasonable budget for a web series. Judging from the quality of The Cleanists‘ first season, a contribution to the campaign will provide good bang for your buck.
