What’s Trending And Ford Offering Chance To Perform At Bonnaroo

The 2014 edition of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will begin on June 12th, but before that date arrives, What’s Trending and Ford plan to add one more name to the list of performers. The social media news channel and the American car company have teamed up for “Escape To Bonnaroo“, a music contest that will be judged by a quintet of online video creators.

Aspiring musicians can enter the contest by submitting a video through the What’s Trending website. Participants should explain why they should win and include a performance.

The five submissions that receive the most traction on social media will be invited to participate in a live streaming event hosted by YouTube Space LA, where they will be judged by YouTubers Chester SeeKandee Johnson, and Glozell Green, Vine star King Bach, and What’s Trending host Shira Lazar. The judges will pick a winner, who will promptly be added to the Bonnaroo lineup and will be slated to perform in The Garage, a lounge space sponsored by Ford.

“We are excited to continue our relationship with Ford by launching this unprecedented contest,” said Lazar. “Escape to Bonnaroo gives independent artists the once-in-a-lifetime chance via social media to play at one of the premier music festivals in the country.”

Ford is a very active brand on YouTube. It has worked with a number of the site’s popular creators to show off unusual uses for its vehicles. This time, one lucky winner will get to use the Ford Escape as a speaker system, but we’ll have to wait to see which contestant has the drive to pull it off.
