Five Top International YouTubers Are “All About You(Tube)” For Charity

Boy bands, as it turns out, do not exist for the sole purpose of making teenage girls hot and bothered. A new collaboration between five of most popular young male YouTubers has resulted in the formation of an all new boy band to raise money for the Sport Relief charity.

The five participating YouTubers are Marcus Butler, Caspar Lee, Alfie Deyes, Joe Sugg, and Jim Chapman. All five of them have more than one million subscribers, and their combined subscriber count is close to 9.2 million. Therefore, calling them The YouTube Boy Band–as their video title does–is accurate. Their video is at once both a crooning song-and-dance number and a mockery of other, more serious boy bands.

Through the video, the YouTube Boy Band is raising money for Sport Relief, an offshoot of Britain’s well-known Comic Relief charity. A link in the description urges viewers to donate. It alternatively asks the mobile crowd to text BOYBAND to 70011 in order to make a £1 donation.

The YouTube Boy Band is one of several great boy band parodies on YouTube, but it is without a doubt the most socially just. I’m glad its five members are using their plentiful charisma to do good.
