Cracked Goes In-House To Create Comedy Miniseries On The Web

The “mind-blowing” and “baffling” listicles on Cracked.com have generated hundreds of millions of views, but the humor publication’s latest development will beef up its video section. Cracked has launched Cracked Studios, an in-house production team that will create comedy mini-series for the Cracked website and YouTube channel.

Cracked, which is a property of Demand Media, previously used its YouTube channel for original series like Streamy-winner Agents of Cracked. The new studio will help keep its video productions up to snuff with previous productions

The first original production from Cracked Studios is a three-part parody titled Adventures In Jedi School. Judging from the trailer, it will feature the same application of real-world logic within fictional universes that drives many Cracked articles.

After the completion of Adventures In Jedi School

, Cracked Studios will release one new miniseries each month, each one running for three episodes. “Known for its short-form, viral sketches containing some of most insightful and well-written pop culture observations, this shift to miniseries will allow Cracked to become the home for stories online, a destination for original series designed for the burgeoning digital marketplace of the web,” says a press release from Cracked.

With more than 306,000 YouTube subscribers, Cracked already has a sizable audience to whom it can peddle its new miniseries. Cracked Studios has its work cut out for itself, but it has the potential to confirm Cracked’s status as a powerful combination of Buzzfeed and CollegeHumor.
