Google’s Yearly Zeitgeist Video Reveals Biggest Stories Of The Year

For the fourth year in a row, Google has wrapped up the previous 12 months with a video collage. The massive tech company has released Zeitgeist 2013, which chronicles the most popular search terms of the year that was.

As in previous years, the Zeitgeist 2013 video includes important events such as the Boston bombings and Egyptian revolution, notable deaths such as Paul Walker and Nelson Mandela, and captivating achievements such as the mission of the Mars Curiosity rover. There’s also a fair bit of overlap with the recently released YouTube Rewind, which seems relevant to YouTube’s standing as the world’s second-most popular search engine.

The video is accompanied by a number of tabs that reveal, in text form, the top searches of the year across several categories. It’s nice to see YouTuber John Green sitting as the second-most Googled author of 2013, though I’m bummed that Tubefilter didn’t crack the top five most searched blogs. Maybe next year.
