MiTú Partners With Univision, Brings Latino Programs To Online Masses

MiTú is a YouTube multi-channel network “exclusively dedicated to Latino content” that boasts more than 45 million global unique viewers who consume over 185 million MiTú network videos a month. The MCN is led by Latino TV vets Doug Greiff, Beatriz Acevedo, and Roy Burstin, who just inked a deal that will link their digital media company to their traditional media roots.

MiTú just announced a partnership with Univision Communications

to syndicate some of its short-form content to the Spanish language broadcast television network’s digital properties.

“MiTú has created an expertise in producing and curating culturally-relevant Latino lifestyle content for today’s younger generation of Hispanics,” said Univision Communications President of Digital and Enterprise Development, Kevin Conroy in the release. “We are looking forward to including a broad sampling of MiTú’s short-form content on UVideos and our other digital platforms to continue to serve our audience with the content they desire.”

The syndication deal isn’t too exciting of a news item on its own, but the potential of what’s next certainly is.

Univision is outpacing its english-language network television counterparts in terms of growth and still has a ton of potential. MiTu can help provide the network with more programming on more screens as its audience increases in size and appetite. Plus, there’s the obvious pilot potential (which other networks have employed), where especially successful online programming from MiTu can be transitioned into fully-fledged television shows. Judging by the future of Spanish in the United States, there should be a lot of demand.
