Jackson Galaxy and the Internet share one very important thing in common: They both love cats. Galaxy, the host of My Cat From Hell on Animal Planet, is taking his unique appearance, Zen demeanor, and feline philosophy to YouTube. He is the host of Cat Mojo, a new web series affiliated with Discovery‘s Animalist vertical.
On My Cat From Hell, Galaxy stars as a trainer who helps pet owners deal with their ill-tempered kitties. On the Internet, however, Galaxy is expanding his reach to include not just cats but also his secondary passion: music. He even wrote the show’s theme song.
In the first episode of Cat Mojo, Galaxy takes the time to discuss what viewers can expect from the series. “We’re going to be doing stuff like giveaways…question and answer stuff, people on the street stuff,” explains Galaxy. “I’m going to be interviewing some people who I really admire in the cat world and the animal world and the music world.”
This isn’t the first time Discovery (which owns Animal Planet) has sourced one of its TV stars for a channel on its online verticals. Most notably, Tory Belleci of Mythbusters has his own TestTube series where he blows stuff up in various explosive ways. The most interesting part of Galaxy’s new web home, however, is that there’s almost no secondary attraction; it’s all about Galaxy and his singular personality. That being said, an abundance of furry guest stars will no doubt pique the cat community’s interest as well.
