Fool’s Gold artist Danny Brown is nothing if not innovative, quick, and with his unique vocal style, one of the best rappers out right now.  His massively successful 2011 mix tape, XXX, landed him on a score of year end lists and put him firmly on everyone’s radar.  His upcoming record, Old, is set to drop on September 30th and is drumming up significant anticipation.  ‘ODB‘ is the first official video from the new release.  The video, like the song, is a punch in the gut with the vocals coming at you in vibrant color and visual effect.  The grainy film stock and camera flares twist and pull at Brown’s face as he delivers two intense verses with a psychedelic twinge reinforcing his always-energetic style.

Originally from the Motor City, Danny Brown brings an underground punk rock aesthetic to his music.  Composed of straight up verses with no hooks, the song clocks in at just under three minutes.  Minimalist through and through, the song features  small vinyl ticks and pops to make it sound like it’s being spun on an old record player. Face to face with the camera, Brown puts his lyrics and his performance right up front.  The beauty is in the moments when you’re waiting for a hook, or for the camera to turn away, but instead Brown just stares you down and let’s everything he just threw at you sink in.  The new record will feature collaborations with A$AP Rocky, Charli XCX, Schoolboy Q, and Freddie Gibbs, among others.
