You Can Submit Your Web Series To The Producers’ Guild Awards

On January 19th, 2014, the Producers’ Guild of America will hand out its annual awards. The ceremony will celebrate 2013’s best films, TV shows, and, for the third year in a row, digital series. Virtually all web series are eligible for entry into the PGA Awards, so if you think your series (or your personal favorite) is the best on the web, you have until September 20th to enter it for consideration.

The PGA also presented an award for Outstanding Digital Series in both 2011 and 2012, with 30 Rock web companions winning both awards. In 2011, it was Jack Donaghy: Executive Superhero that took home the top prize, while 2012’s big winner was 30 Rock: The Webisodes. Since 30 Rock aired its final episode back in January, the category is now completely up for grabs.

It’s easy to assume

the Outstanding Digital Series PGA award will simply transfer from one companion to the next, but it’s not so cut and dry. In 2012, nominees included The Guild, Red vs. Blue, and H+. Just a few weeks ago, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries won a Primetime Emmy Award. Traditional Hollywood groups are beginning to take notice of the web series space, leaving the upcoming PGA Award race wide open.

The rules for PGA Award submission are pretty lax: entrants only heed to have aired three web series episodes in 2013. Should you or someone you know choose to enter, the nomination polls will open on October 28th and the nominees will be announced on November 27th.

Again, the deadline to submit your series is September 20th. It’s worth a shot, no?
