Yahoo Targets Women With New Lifestyle Slate

A couple of weeks ago, we had our first look at Yahoo Screen‘s lifestyle-focused originals library through Cinema and Spice, where two women combine cooking with popular TV and film franchise. Now, Yahoo has rolled out an entire lifestyle originals slate, and, like Cinema and Spice, most of the included shows are primarily aimed at women, focused on healthy living, and written with an instructional tone.

Several new shows join Cinema and Spice in the kitchen. Grill Next Door brings a girl power vibe to grilling by featuring recipes from women who know their way around a Weber. Cooking 1:01 provides a daily 61-second blitz of cooking tips and techniques. One of the returning series included in the lineup is Blue Ribbon Hunter, where host Allison Fishman tours the country looking for the best award-winning fare she can find.

The new Yahoo slate also gives the ‘style’ part of  ‘lifestyle’ with Fashion Recipe, where a stylist to the stars raids women’s wardrobes to find ways they can make better use of their clothes.

The remaining three shows fit the ‘life’ part of the bill. Check Up With Dr. Travis Stork brings us tips from a doctor/hunky TV personality, while The Girl’s Game brings a female twist to the world of pickup artists, teaching girls how they can best attract guys. Finally, the second returning series is Reluctant Healthy, featuring wellness tips from busy Arrested Development actress Judy Greer.

If Yahoo’s Newfronts presentation was any indication, the boys will get their series later in the summer. Under the lifestyle banner, however, it’s ladies night.
