What To Expect At The Hulu NewFront [Predictions]

From April 29th-May 3rd, 18 online video distributors will take the stage all over New York for Digital Content Newfronts, where they will attempt to pitch their upcoming content to advertisers and the media. Here at Tubefilter, we’ll be running through some of the presenters and taking our guesses as to what they will be showcasing. Today, Hulu.

Name: Hulu

Date Of Newfronts Presentation: Tuesday, April 30th from 9-11 AM EST

Highlights of Current Offerings: All those TV shows you watch, all those British TV shows your erudite friends watch, The Morning After, Pretty Tough, Battleground

What They Talked About At Last Year’s Newfronts: In addition to showcasing its upward trend in Hulu Plus subscribers, the entertainment destination announced four original series at the 2012 Newfronts, wheeling out Adrian Grenier and Seth Meyers to help break the news. Meyers’ animated series, The Awesomes, was one of the shows teased, but it hasn’t yet released anything beyond a single trailer.

What They Will Talk About This Year: Just like last year, originals are at the center of Hulu’s game plan. The Awesomes is finally set to debut at Comic-Con, and several other exclusive series are on the horizon, many of which we featured previously in this space

. Look for more details to come out about all of Hulu’s upcoming shows, but I’m particularly curious about Mother Up, an animated series that will feature ex-Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria.

“It’s a thrill to share what we have planned in 2013,” said Andy Forssell, Hulu’s acting CEO and SVP of Content. “We’re working with innovative showrunners such as Seth Meyers and Michael Shoemaker, Josh Greenbaum and James Corden and Mathew Baynton, while releasing a full slate of highly anticipated series exclusive to stateside audiences with beloved stars like Eva Longoria.”

A Special Guest Who Could Show Up: Last year’s Hulu presentation was particularly glamorous, so expect to see appearances from celebs like Meyers and Longoria as the premium platforms strives to impress its potential advertising partners. Awesome and probably unrealistic prediction: An appearance from my favorite character to watch on Hulu, Bill Hader’s Stefon, who will tell everyone at the event about New York’s hottest clubs.
