You may recognize INDMUSIC from their weekly efforts to uncover music videos you might not have seen on YouTube. A new partnership will allow the network to further champion little-known musicians. It is partnering with PledgeMusic, a Kickstarter-like site that allows musicians to run social media-heavy fundraising campaigns.
The partnership will allow PledgeMusic’s social media campaigns to cast a wider net. “PledgeMusic already integrates artists’ social media channels like Facebook and Twitter into their offering so it’s a natural and obvious extension to build a YouTube strategy into the equation,” said Brandon Martinez, CEO of INDMUSIC. “This partnership provides a pathway for artists to move from artistic conception, through funding and promotion, and directly to monetization, and we look forward to empowering artists in this way with PledgeMusic as a partner.”
INDMUSIC’s skills at monetizing music on YouTube came into the forefront during the Harlem Shake craze, when the network worked with Baauer to secure royalties for his song every time it was matched up with ridiculous dancing. The company’s ingenuity probably made Baauer a very rich man, and its partnership with PledgeMusic and the unsigned artists who make up the bulk of its clientele gives INDMUSIC a chance to repeat such success.
