Health Channel Veria Takes To The Streets With ‘Health Soup’

Veria, which brands itself as “the leading media company devoted to showcasing wellness programming and related content in the United States and beyond,” is moving beyond its cable TV roots with an expanded array of online content. One of its newest series is Health Soup, which takes a whimsical approach to teaching the world about health, fitness, and veganism.

Health Soup is broken down into three man-on-the-street segments. The first tests passersby on their pronunciation, seeing if they can pronounce words like qigong and acai. Next, host David Price challenges contestants to hold various yoga poses, occasionally pushing

them over when they are close to completing such a goal. Finally, the third segment quizzes viewers on whether certain celebrities are vegan. Who knew Bill Clinton was one?

Veria is attempting to move into a very crowded field; plenty of web series are dedicated to healthy eating and living. However, few are as  offbeat as Health Soup, and the show’s quirkiness is its driving force.
