Special Guests Drop In To Red Bull’s Interactive ‘Exit Vine’

The Red Bull Music Channel‘s Exit Vine web series, which debuted a couple months ago, is notable for its affiliation with the gigantic Red Bull YouTube empire (though it has nothing to do with extreme sports) as well as its heavy dose of interactivity; fans are given a chance to vote on specific plot details after every episode, making Exit Vine a choose-your-own-adventure web series. As the series reaches its fifth installment, it is hitting its stride and throwing in a few well-placed cameos.

The series continues to follow the intrepid young musicians of the band Ambicide as they navigate growing pains, a prima donna rival musician, and Hiimrawn. By the fifth episode, it’s time for Ambicide to choose a label, with characters played by Dave Days, Joe Bereta (from SourceFed and Barats & Bereta

), and the sexy Russian gal from Hot For Words all vying to represent the group. Viewers get to choose which of those characters ends up signing Ambicide, cleverly foreshadowing different types of conflict that will result from each choice. In my mind, you had better vote for Joe Bereta, because the Mantage is one of the great YouTube videos of all time.

With its interactivity, collaborative cameos, and peripheral content (Exit Vine takes a page out of Get Him To The Greek‘s book by turning songs from the show into actual music videos), Exit Vine is pulling every trick out of the viewer engagement bag. It’s a bit of a departure for Red Bull Media House, but it’s checking out.
