The Fine Brothers Rickrolled 14 Of The Biggest YouTube Stars

The Fine Brothers‘ latest React series, YouTubers React, has had an underlying theme of YouTube nostalgia; by examining videos like ‘Chocolate Rain’, Fred, ‘Evolution of Dance’, and Magibon, the arsenal of featured YouTubers are reminding everyone what YouTube was like before all of the fancy-schmancy Original Channels and VEVO videos. In order to continue this hidden agenda, Benny and Rafi took the natural next step: they planted 14 guests in front of computers, and Rickrolled every single one of them.

It’s been about five years since Rickrolling was popular, but judging from the YouTuber reactions, a well placed bait-and-switch featuring Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ can still irritate its victims to no end. Smosh went off on a profanity-laced tirade, Shaycarl threw a chair, iJustine ended up slamming the computer shut, and I’m pretty sure Brick killed a guy. For maximum enjoyment, be sure to imagine the Fine Brothers sitting behind the camera, laughing their asses off.

There’s a gem at the end of the video as well, as the Fine Brothers tease a news item about Rick Astley, which leads to another expertly crafted Rickroll. Will the classic trolling technique make a comeback? On one hand, this video is funny. On the other hand, nah, please don’t. I think we’ve all had enough bad dancing to last a lifetime.

If the Fine Brothers are going to keep digging up old YouTube fads, would it kill them to replay some classic fails? That’s an online video revival I can get behind.
