Zachary Quinto’s Short Film Comes To Fishbowl’s PETSAMI

Zachary Quinto is set to make a splash this year when he portrays Spock in the upcoming Star Trek: Into Darkness. Before the summer, however, Quinto is biding his time with several other projects. A short film starring the former Heroes star has popped up on Fishbowl Worldwide Media‘s Petsami channel.

The film is titled Dog Eat Dog, and it follows Quinto as he attempts to adopt a dog. Along the way, he faces a series of trials alongside director Sian Heder, co-star Philip Baker Hall, and, because this is Petsami, a host of adawwable wittle puppies. Watching the film, I kept getting scared; I still picture Quinto as a cold, calculating serial killer, and I wanted assurance that no animals were harmed in the making of this film.

Dog Eat Dog started as a Kickstarter campaign in 2011, and was completed after raising more than $30,000. On the film, Quinto said:

Dog Eat Dog has been a great collaboration between my company, Before The Door Pictures, my friend and director, Sian Heder, and our generous Kickstarter supporters.  We are excited to be sharing it with Petsami and their fans. This story is very close to all of us, as we have all rescued or fostered dogs over the years.  The story of the film is an exaggerated account of how I eventually found my rescue dog Noah, but it still reflects a bit of the reality I faced when I was looking to adopt a shelter dog.  Additionally, we are incredibly honored to have Philip Baker Hall and Sharon Wilkins, both pet lovers themselves, join us to make the film.”

As for Fishbowl, Vin di Bona’s production company continues to run on a platform of ‘cute animals + babies = good.’ The association with Quinto brings Fishbowl one of its biggest celebrity names. “I am thrilled to be able to partner with Zachary and Before The Door Pictures to distribute Dog Eat Dog as it reflects the original and inspirational programming that our audiences love,” said David Beebe, SVP of Fishbowl. “Dog Eat Dog allows us to continue to provide great and relevant content for our audience, as well as more cross-promotion opportunities with Revision3. It also allows the film to reach new and engaging audiences and hopefully inspire others to adopt dogs that are looking for a loving and forever home.” Translation: GET MORE PUPPIES.
