Premium Content Delivered In Bite-Size Chunks At MyPod Studios

Yahoo has become the second most popular video sharing site in part because it has focused on acting as curator for a large number of original series. MyPod Studios, a “premium online video community’ that just celebrated its first birthday, has taken this strategy to the next level by pre-screening all of its available programming. This winter, MyPod is adding several new shows to its lineup in partnership with New York’s Bravo Studios as it attempts to create a platform with the highest possible quality of selected video.

MyPod separates each channel into ‘pods‘ where users can view content in short, episodic chunks. For instance, one of the network’s newest pods is Top Shelf, where each selection within the pod teaches viewers how to mix a particular cocktail. Through this format, MyPod is able to focus entirely on serial content rather than one-off videos.

So far, it seems to be working, with several pods reaching six digit views. “MyPod Studios has seen explosive growth

over the past year because we understand how to create and deliver premium online video that people can find quickly and actually want to watch,” said Jay Miletsky, founder and CEO of MyPod Studios. “The decision to team with Bravo Studios and the creation of new multi-dimensional satellite sites are both prime examples of how we’re delivering on what viewers, and also advertisers, need from a video community. They’re also examples of how MPS is growing into a multi-dimensional entity, bringing curated content, original productions and text-based articles together for a more complete user experience.”

Other shows resulting from the new partnership will include a cooking show and a guide to staying limber and fit while at work. Given that several of MyPod’s most popular offerings are based on health and wellness subjects, additional investment in those categories seems like a good idea. While you wait for those shows, feel free to fix yourself a drink. I hear Top Shelf has some unique suggestions. Bottoms up!
