Famous Faces You Can See At Social Media Week Los Angeles (Omar Epps!)

I know I must sound like a broken record at this point, but Social Media Week Los Angeles is only five days away, which means you only have a few more days to sign up for all of the great events that we’ve been previewing here on Tubefilter this past week. Yesterday, we told you about the free Janelle Monae concert that will be going down on Tuesday, September 25th, but she’s not the only famous face who will be appearing at SMWLA. There will be a veritable treasure trove of celebs showing their faces, including but not limited to:

Each of these well-known luminaries will host an event at SMWLA. Larry King will interview Nick Cannon during a taping of his show Larry King Now, which we think is pretty cool. Now you have a chance to experience it as well, with a chance to hear one of America’s finest interviewers talk to the guy who, among other things, made this guilty pleasure show of mine

. Definitely don’t want to miss this Friday afternoon event.

If you’re hanging around earlier in the week, you can catch Omar Epps from House talk about celebrity testimonials in the social media space on Monday. Epps is the President of Brooklynworks Films, so he certainly has the business know-how required to have enough expertise on this subject. Maybe this will finally be the time we learn whether or not Epps is the long-lost brother of Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.

If music celebs are more up your alley, then you should definitely check out the talk with Troy Carter, the manager for Lady Gaga. No one knows more about marketing a celebrity than Carter, and during his fireside chat he’ll expound on his philosophy of “fans first.” Hopefully Carter will be able to give us a behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood’s biggest music stars, which also seems to be a goal of this panel, “The Wizards of Oz,” where several agency talents will explore the backstage tactics used to market a celebrity ‘product’.

Highly visible executives from well-established brands will also appear. Ryan Holiday of American Apparel has written a best-selling book, Trust Me I’m Lying, about his savvy methods for manipulating the media. Holiday’s not the only author who will be at SMWLA; Jane Buckingham of Trendera was a published author at age 17 when her book Teens Speak Out was published. Now she’s a social media professional with a ton of experience in the industry

If any of these accomplished individuals interest you, attending is as simple as clicking ‘Attend’ on each event’s page. And make sure to keep checking out the schedule as late-breaking events could still pop up. Remember, only five days to go! Be sure to sign up.
