Diggnation Test Drives YouTube’s Live Streaming Tonight

Today at 6pm Pacific, Diggnation conducting their first ever live streamed episode on YouTube. Hosts Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht will answer questions, respond to comments, and will also conduct another live streamed Q&A after the formal episode.

The show can be viewed live on Diggnation’s YouTube. Further information is available on Diggnation’s home page.

Over the past few months, there have been some concerns over the future of Diggnation, with co-host Kevin Rose developing Foundation, now airing on YouTube. However, Jim Louderback, CEO of Revision3 assures us that it’s “full-steam ahead with Diggnation in 2011 and beyond!”

Diggnation is no stranger to live shows, as many of their shows are filmed in front of studio audiences, from a few dozen to a few

thousand. Louderback says, “Both Kevin and Alex have extensive experience doing live TV from their time at TechTV and G4, so this will be nothing new for them. Each has its positives, however, from taped at Kevin’s home, to live in front of thousands.”

In September of 2010, YouTube added its first live streaming shows besides a few special events, kicking it off with a live episode of Rocketboom. Joining the ranks of UStream, Livestream, and BlogTV, YouTube has been developing live streaming, expected to be first released solely for partnered channels.

The results of today’s Diggnation live stream will hopefully provide feedback for YouTube on the potential success of launching this capability for the users at large.
