The Tribeca Festival wants to deepen its relationship with creators

The 2025 edition of the Tribeca Festival will include a new piece of programming that will bring more independent artists into the fold. The annual gathering put on by production house Tribeca Film has announced a Creators Forum that will include talks, roundtables, and networking opportunities for and by the rising class of influencer filmmakers.

The Creators Forum will span multiple days during the 2025 Tribeca Festival, which will run from June 4 to June 15 in the namesake Manhattan neighborhood. A press release from Tribeca claims that the “broader filmmaking community” will be served by the new forum.

Industry leaders, indie hitmakers, and innovators will spearhead discussions on topics that bridge the gap between the social media world and Hollywood. One point of emphasis will be festival strategy and distribution — a logical focus given the Forum’s setting.

Tribeca Film sees the Creators Forum as an opportunity to expand its reputation as a support system for up-and-coming artists. Its 2016 Digital Creators Market was an early experiment in creator-led filmmaking that opened doors for YouTubers like Grace Helbig and Jon Cozart. Additional markets followed in the succeeding years, and Tribeca also turned an eye toward emerging formats like short-form video and VR.

Several films related to the creator landscape have also held their premieres at Tribeca. The most recent entry in that category is The YouTube Effect, a documentary that debuted at the festival in 2022.

“As the industry evolves, Tribeca constantly seeks ways to make it more accessible to artists from all backgrounds, communities, and disciplines,” said Tribeca Festival Director and SVP of Programming Cara Cusumano in a statement. “The first-ever Creators Forum will do what Tribeca does best—facilitate connections, provide mentorship, offer creative support, and, hopefully, shift the trajectory of someone’s career.”

Beyond the Creators Forum, the Tribeca Festival is also inviting in rising talent by expanding its submission guidelines for the 2025 event. More details and ticketing information are available via the Tribeca Festival website.
