With its Thanksgiving parade float and animated series, this NFT collection is the cat’s meow

Cool Cats is making history this November. The feline NFT collection will have its own float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and its characters are the stars of a new animated web series called The Milk Chug.

Ethereum-based Cool Cats is a 9,999-piece collection based on the Blue Cat character created by artist Colin Egan. Each Cool Cat features a randomly generated design, but the identity of the brand’s parade float is already known. On the morning of November 23, gigantic depictions of the Blue Cat and Chugs characters will hover above the streets of New York City as the first NFT-inspired participants in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Cool Cats will not be the first digital media brand to participate in Macy’s 99-year-old holiday tradition. In recent years, characters like the Ryan’s World Red Titan have floated across Manhattan. Macy’s even experimented with its own NFT collection, with pieces inspired by classic floats.

If you’re an annual parade watcher and you’re racking your brain trying to figure out how to explain NFTs to your older family members, don’t worry. Cool Cats has launched a new show that (partially) explains its nature. The Milk Chug

is a partnership between Cool Cats Group and prominent animation studio Titmouse. Its setting is the titular hangout, where Blue Cat and friends like to pass the time.

The Milk Chug boasts a strong voice-acting lineup that includes Psych star Maggie Lawson, animation vet Zeno Robinson, and Dan Stevens of Downton Abbey fame. All of those voices can be heard in the premiere Milk Chug episode, which is now available on the official Cool Cats YouTube channel.

“Working on a cartoon series has been a dream of mine since I was young, and I’m ecstatic to collaborate with Titmouse to make that dream a reality,” said Egan, who goes by the nickname Clon, in a statement. “The entire process has been an absolute blast and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with. I’m excited to debut the pilot episode today and share my vision for these characters and the world they live in.”

Cool Cats will add to its Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance by dropping limited-edition merch that will be available through Macy’s. The 97th edition of the Turkey Day spectacle begins at 8:30 AM ET on the 23rd.
