Alix Earle, Alex Cooper go 1-2 in Spotify podcast charts after teaming up at new media company

Alex Cooper‘s Unwell Network is off to a tremendous start. Less than two months after its official launch, the media company has claimed the top two spots on the Spotify podcast charts. At the time of this post, Alix Earle‘s new show Hot Mess is in first place, while Cooper’s Call Her Daddy ranks second.

Spotify’s podcast charts incorporate multiple data points, including total followers and unique listeners. In the latest version of the ranking, Hot Mess and Call Her Daddy both surpassed The Joe Rogan Experience on Spotify’s charts. That’s no small feat. Rogan’s podcast is not just a Spotify exclusive — it was the platform’s most popular show in both 2021 and 2022.

Call Her Daddy may not have the same legacy as JRE, but Cooper’s advice podcast has made a major impact on pop culture. The musicians who appear as guests on her show typically see a bump in traffic, according to Spotify. In August, Cooper moved to consolidate her influence by launching The Unwell Network, which she pitched as “a platform for this generation’s unique voices that embrace social challenges and personal insecurities through honest conversation.”

Earle was one of the first creative partners for Cooper’s media company. Under the Unwell banner, the TikTok “it girl

” launched Hot Mess, which she uses to update her fans about her life. Earle also took advantage of the Cooper bump by making a guest appearance on the season four premiere of Call Her Daddy. Though Earle is known for her association with the University of Miami, her Call Her Daddy episode travels north to her home state of New Jersey.

A week after that episode dropped, Alex and Alix are sitting pretty. The two blonde bombshells are showing that they’re capable of multiplatform stardom. Earle in particular has had a busy week: As she topped the Spotify charts, she earned a place on Forbes‘ Top Creators list and cheered on her boyfriend — football player Braxton Berrios — as his Miami Dolphins set NFL records in a victory over the Denver Broncos.

Unwell’s dominance of the Spotify charts isn’t likely to cease anytime soon. Aside from Earle, the other launch partner for Cooper’s media company was TikToker Madeline Argy, who is set to premiere her own Unwell-produced podcast. Pretty Lonesome with Madeline Argy goes live on October 2.
